Strategic Planning on the Front Burner

Many of you can remember back to last Spring when you responded to a questionaire from the board to all artist-members asking for your in-put on the Strengths and Weaknesses of the C.A.C., and also ideas about Opportunities for the future, and perceived Threats to our operations as we move forward.
Every thought submitted has been read, discussed and re-read and tabulated by board members and the committee members working on fine-tuning our mission statement and developing our strategic plan for the next several years.
Those opinions and ideas you submitted have formed the basis of the content that the Strategic Planning Committee is currently working through in on-going meetings led by an independent, professional Facilitator.   The Committee is grateful to those members who contributed their thoughts so that our gallery policy may continue to reflect the collective force of its members as a whole.

Great Aunt Caroline

Just found out I'm officially now a Great-aunt, with the birth of Theo Alexander, the son of my niece Elizabeth, who lives in Ottawa near my sister, her mother.  A great creation!

Just found out that I have been accepted as an elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists!

New Date for the AGM

Looks like we have a slight change of plans.  Due to the audit report deadline, the new date for our AGM will be the evening  (7pm ) of Tuesday  30 November.  Not sure about the pizza, I'll let you know later on about that, but be sure to attend the meeting because there have been, and will be, lots of developments to learn about.
Plus it's your first chance to sign on as a member for 2011, and the early birds get the best pickings !

Frith Bail & Paulette Dennis Show

You get to have a drink and a chat with some pretty special people at Show Openings of the Mad & Noisy Gallery, so wear your very most fascinating outfit, maybe with a bird or two in charming colours.

Frith Bail at her exhibition of Naked Clay sculptures, desparately in need of a decent photographer; where are the Gallery's Photographers when you need them?

When does a subtle touch of colour in the right place act as a focal point in a great composition ?  Paulette Dennis knows the answer to that one.  Both artists have used colour sparingly but effectively.  Paulette's sensitive pencil work is a pleasure to see and feel; her studies from nature also evoke the imagination.

Hello from Peter A

Many thanks to Caroline Routh for starting this Mad and Noisy blog!! Like Caroline, I hope it will prove to be a great opportunity to share information and ideas ...and also to strengthen the sense of community that we all appreciate as members of the M&N. Speaking of sharing information, our Annual General Meeting is coming up soon, and it also offers us all a great chance to share ideas and find out what's happening both within the gallery and behind the scenes. It is also our opportunity to vote in a new Board of Directors for the year ahead. Please mark your calendars for the evening of Monday November 22nd. The meeting will begin at 7pm, but we will be ordering pizza for all to enjoy beforehand. Please bring a few dollars to contribute to this and show up at the gallery between 6 and 7. Hope to see all of you there!

Intricacy & Naked Clay

The Mad and Noisy spreads out farther and farther.  There I was on my way to The Cheese Gallery on Thornbury's main drag, when my eyes caught on  Intricacy & Naked Clay.   I hope to take in the opening of the show this coming Saturday afternoon.  I know Frith has been working on an exciting new direction for her and the very attractive invitation promises so much.  And Paulette's drawings, with a delicate touch of colour, will put me into my sensitive mode, which is a good thing.
So I look forward to another opening, another show, and expect to see many members from the gallery there to offer support.
